75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION- UPDATE

Sunday, July 11th, at the completion of the Felix Grundy Festival, we will be celebrating our church's 75th anniversary.  

After two postponements, the 75th Anniversary Celebration is finally going to take place! Thank

you for your understanding and patience as we navigated decisions for the event during these unprecedented times.

Our committee felt it would be wise to schedule the event during the annual Felix Grundy Festival weekend when many people from out of town are here for reunions. The committee is working around festival events, so some time frames have changed accordingly from the original plans.

The committee needs to provide a meal count to the caterer and a form for you and any family members that will be attending is included in this letter. The deadline for returning the meal form and payment is June 9. We are certain there are people that have been inadvertently left off the mailing. If you know a former member that would like to attend, they may go to the church website, www.alcgc.org, and send a message to the church secretary from the, “contact us,” tab at the bottom of the page; she will email information to them.

The anniversary committee has reserved a block of rooms at AmericInn in Grundy Center for former clergy and their spouses, and there will be one or two rooms available for former members attending from out of town. These will be reserved on a first come – first served basis, and you will need to contact Darlene Marske by June 9, to check the availability. A list of other nearby hotels is listed at the bottom of this mailing.

As previously mentioned, the 75th Anniversary Celebration is being held during the Felix Grundy Festival. Here is a brief list of events that you might enjoy while you are in Grundy Center:

· Saturday morning – craft fair, food vendors, car show, kids activities. These activities take place on or around the Court House area.

· Saturday afternoon – 4:00 PM parade along Main Street (G Ave.) starting at the Fair Grounds and ending at Orion Park. Be sure to have a lawn chair along, if you intend to watch the parade.

· The Herbert Quick Schoolhouse is usually open for tours at various times during the Festival and is handicapped accessible.
